Backpacker Travel Insurance C iii

As a backpacker travel insurance should be at the top of your list when organising your backpacking adventure. Backpacker travel insurance is usually excellent value and will afford you the most needed cover at more general and affordable levels than other travel insurance packages so that you can backpack around the world without having to worry about the costs that illness or accident might incur without paying an arm and a leg for your insurance.
Backpackers tend to travel on a shoe string and backpacker travel insurance fits nicely into this scheme of things because of its great value for money. Backpackers also like to find accommodation on a shoe string which often means that the accommodation is either not in the best condition or could be situated in a less desirable location than other more expensive accommodation. Backpacking is all about budgeting but that doesn’t mean that backpackers should fear for their belongings because backpacker travel insurance will cover loss and theft of personal items while you’re on your adventure regardless of the area you stay in or the number of stars that your hotel boasts.
Backpacker travel insurance generally includes cancellation of flights insurance, medical cover, illness and accident cover, damage or loss of personal items cover and often cover for those partaking in extreme sports too.
Backpacking can also be more unpredictable as the more carefree and usually younger backpacker tends to be less picky about the transport that gets them from here to there. Hitch-hiking is not recommended in many areas and is very popular and whilst certain precautions should always be taken, this doesn’t guard against how unpredictable it can be.
More cost-effective air travel and land travel are a priority to backpackers and sometimes this means a lengthier journey and more stations leaving the backpacker, once again, open to more unforeseen circumstances. Backpacker travel insurance is the affordable and smart way to protect you against unpredictable travel problems.
Backpacking an awesome way to bond with locals and get a realistic view into a city. Backpackers are exposed to more realistic aspects of lifestyles in other cities which enriches their travel experience and makes living on a tight budget well worth it. Backpackers, however, shouldn’t ever leave home without backpacker travel insurance.
How To Find The Best Travel Agents to Save Time and Money

The only way to keep up with the latest about travel agents is to constantly stay on the lookout for new information. If you read everything you find about travel agents, it won’t take long for you to become an influential authority.
Travel agents must be well-organized, accurate, and meticulous to compile information from various sources and plan and organize their clients’ travel itineraries. Other desirable qualifications include good writing, computer, and sales skills. Travel agents need to pay for itineraries with company check or company credit card in order to receive commission from AMHS. For payment over the phone, we only accept credit cards.
Travel agents must work at least 20 hours per week and earn a minimum of $5,000 per year in commissions as a travel agent to qualify for an IATAN card. Travel agents provide customers with information and advice about travel destinations. They make transportation and accommodation arrangements. Travel agents are in a unique position to influence this burden as the most common and most serious problems are preventable with simple advice and/or immunisation. This study, using covert researchers, suggests this potential is not being fully utilised.
Travel agents are also concerned that the proposal may eliminate bonuses and other incentives that airlines provide to travel agencies. Finally, travel agents want assurance that they will have flexibility in their contracts while maintaining a commercially reasonable relationship.
If you find yourself confused by what you’ve read to this point, don’t despair. Everything should be crystal clear by the time you finish.
Travel agents aren’t going the way of the eight-track tape just yet. Most travel agents are continually learning about destinations and suppliers; who to work with and who not to work with. They are there and they work for you. Travel agents no longer make commissions once offered by all airlines, therefore they must charge for their professional services. Large companies usually have in-house travel specialists who have travel agent backgrounds, though up-and-coming companies can still benefit from using outside travel agencies. Travel agents are not rip-off artists, but it is part of their job to “mark it up”.
Business travel comprised 21 percent of outbound travel, unchanged from 2005. Business travellers often change their plans on a moment’s notice, making the process even more complicated. And ticket prices are constantly changing. Travel agents, although they need a license to sell it, don’t understand insurance (as a general rule). They just know they get paid more when they sell the travel insurance.
Roughly 80% of airline sales, 30% of hotel sales, 50% of rental car sales and 95% of cruise line sales in the United States are made through travel agents. Travel Agents working in travel agencies may advance to managerial positions or start their own businesses. Travel clerks or trainees can advance to Travel Agent, department manager or travel agency manager, or owner.
Now you can understand why there’s a growing interest in travel agents. When people start looking for more information about travel agents, you’ll be in a position to meet their needs.
Travel Agent or Self Book?

Increasing numbers of people now research and book their vacations on the internet which is having an effect on the number of people the travel agent sees. There are many websites that help people find the best deals and allow you to make all of your plans through their sites without ever needing to speak to a real person. Even though I will probably save a few dollars by using the internet, I continue to book my vacations face to face with a travel agent but I do admit to some serious searching on the internet to learn more about where I am going.
The internet is ideal for this and it I amazing just how much you can learn from it; I am even able to know how much it will cost before I see my travel agent. This is a much more certain way of finding out how much it will all cost before I embarrass myself and choose a vacation I cannot afford. If you are planning on international travel, they can advise you of things you need to know like hotel prices and you can find out what some of the laws are that might affect you.
They know all of the fees for entering and exiting the countries so not only can they give you the facts, but they make recommendations on where you may want to travel and what there is to see and do. Make no mistake, while the internet is undoubtedly very efficient, it is also quite impersonal and will not be able to give the assurances a travel representative can about your travel arrangements. I can’t help it because I just like dealing with someone face to face and know that there is a certain amount of care involved with my travel arrangements which is something I do not feel the internet caters for.
While it is easy and usually cheaper to do all you’re booking online, it is not so helpful when something goes wrong and you have to complain; something the travel agent is there for as well. The benefits of seeing a person was highlighted when my husband and I wanted to get married and fortunately we found a travel agent that was on exactly the right wavelength as us.
She was very sweet plus incredibly helpful and by the time I ended the 30 minute conversation with her, she had renewed my faith in them; she had given me many choices of where we could go that we’d have wonderful weather for the month we were planning to travel. Her help included things I hadn’t even asked her and she managed to provide us with an accurate costing which was a very important issue. As she was so quick to get all this done we decided to book the wedding and honeymoon almost straight away.
There is another reason why travel agents are better than the internet; you don’t get much of a response from a computer screen when you want to complain.
Tall Story – Lanzarote´s Arrecife Gran Hotel
On an island where high rise construction has been banned the Arrecife Gran Hotel in Lanzarote really does stand head and shoulders above the competition. As this seventeen storey establishment somehow managed to escape strict planning laws and is now the only building of its kind on the island. Granting guests breathtaking panoramic views across Lanzarote´s capital and beyond.
Back in the 1960´s local artist called Cesar Manrique was intent on ensuring that his beloved birthplace avoided the fate of other Spanish sunspots. Which were then being carpeted in new hotels and apartment buildings as General Franco sought to dynamise the Spanish economy and attract foreign currency with the introduction of package tourism.
Manrique however had friends in high places – in the form of the island governor Pepin Ramirez. And together the pair campaigned against the worst excesses of the developers. Successfully securing an outright ban on all construction taller than a Canarian Palm tree.
However the Arrecife Gran somehow slipped through the net. As work started on this edifice whilst Manrique was off the island. But on his return the project was halted and the shell of the building stood idle for decades. Even suffering fire damage in the 1980´s –creating a real eye sore right on the capitals coastline.
By the 1990´s the local government came to realise that the only pragmatic solution would be to allow development of a hotel to go ahead. As the costs of demolishing the building were prohibitive. And so a €26 million project got underway – with the completed hotel opening its doors for business for the first time in 2004.
Today, the Arrecife Gran is well established as one of the finest five star hotels in Lanzarote. Boasting a roof top restaurant, luxury spa, restaurants and shopping gallery. As well as a total of 156 guest rooms – comprising 54 doubles and 102 suites.
The immediate environs of the hotel have also been smartened up of late. With a new park set out besides the Arrecife Gran and the Islote de Femin soon to open its doors as a new maritime park.
The Arrecife Gran is an ideal location for anyone keen to stay in and explore Lanzarote´s cosmopolitan capital. Which is home to around half of the islands total population of 127,000 inhabitants. Boasting great shopping and the best nightlife on the island. As well as its own beach – located right outside the doors of the hotel.

Encinitas is a California beach town locked in the 1960′s. Here you can see tourists and locals alike dining at outdoor restaurants, walking around downtown barefoot or in swim suits, just sitting in their cars at Moonlight Beach watching the waves or carrying their surfboards as they pedal their bikes to the nearest beach. World famous Swami’s Temple and more than 20 yoga studios add to the funky “cool” vibe.
Ann Dunham is the hostess of a lovely little Bed and Breakfast called the Inn At Moonlight Beach, situated on a hillside overlooking the ocean. Moonlight Beach is the most popular beach in Encinitas, a great spot to simply get some sun, enjoy a picnic, play a game of pickup volleyball, try your hand at surfing or boogie-boarding, body surf, read a book, people watch or simply “chill.”
The lovely suites at Ann’s Inn At Moonlight Beach are decorated like the rooms you’d find in a French Country Inn. Each suite has a private bath and refrigerator. What makes Ann’s Inn really special is that she bakes her guests delicious home-made, warm-from-the-oven cakes and pastries along with their breakfasts every morning.
Guests at the Inn might begin their day with a walk on the beach in either direction at the crack of dawn and then return to the Inn for Ann’s home-made breakfast – all included in the cost of the night’s stay. Swami’s Beach was made famous in 1963 by the Beach Boys and is just a ten minute walk along the sandy beach where world class surfers still surf every morning.
If you stay at Ann’s Inn, you will awaken in the morning to the sounds of the of her meditative waterfall. You can drift back to sleep take a walk or jog along Moonlight Beach as Encinitas awakens.
After any morning activities, guests can relax at the Inn with a cup of fresh, hot Starbucks coffee and Ann’s home-made breakfast as they enjoy the local newspaper or Wall Street Journal in the breakfast room or outside in the sunshine.
In the evenings, guests enjoy romantic moonlit walks on the beach. Others prefer to relax on the front porch of the Inn with a glass of wine while they enjoy the twilight over the ocean. When guests are ready for bed they can snuggle down under fine cotton linens and down-filled pillows and let the soothing songs of the waterfall and distant surf lull them to sleep.
For other lodging accommodations, vacationers will find that Del Mar California Hotels and Carlsbad Bed and Breakfasts are plentiful in the Pacific Ocean beach towns of northern San Diego.
Swami’s Beach, immortalized by the Beach Boy’s in 1963 (let’s go surfing now, everybody’s learning how, come on a safari with me!) is just 6 blocks south of Moonlight Beach on historic Highway 101 and still draws the finest surfers in the world on a daily basis.

Traditional Festivals and Modern Festivals
May 28, 2009 by Ian Kleine
Did you quite get the difference between the two? No? Well, hot dang. The differences between them seem pretty quite obvious even to the naked eye.
Traditional festivals have a sense of solemnity within them. They celebrate something more on the religious and/or cultural side of things. Most of the newer generation would be put off by the seriousness and the solemnity of the traditional festival. These types of festivals usually are lackluster with the glamor but have a backing of over a thousand years worth of tradition. Never mind attendance. Most traditional festivals are compulsory and oftentimes required for attendance.
The modern festival dictates nothing but camaraderie, bacchanal revelry and capriciousness. Modern festivals were made by the times for the sheer enjoyment of life amidst the troubling times, the turmoil and terror, and sometimes, just the plain boredom of things. A modern festival are usually up to date, involve a lot of dancing, music, singing and revelry, and is just plain abandon for almost all inhibitions. Usually, there is no focus in modern festivals. Just plain having fun (or at least trying to).
There is usually the involvement of the community in both festivals, although in the case of a traditional festival; it is dictated by religion, culture or belief. Sometimes, a festival is but a series of rites and ceremonies held by the spiritual leaders in an area. Sometimes…well, you get the idea.
Most towns go for the modern festival now, which is quite a tourist attraction when the season comes. The big draw in a festival is the climactic highlight where it seems that beer knows no stopper, dancing knows no beat, and partying knows not day or night. But it is this kind of freedom that people come over to stop, play and just have fun.
Festivals have a purpose. It’s up to the people to decide on it.
