Tenerife Car Rental
With more than 120 vehicle leasing companies on delightful Tenerife as well as a bewildering number of Tenerife car hire agents, choosing which car hire company to select can be a mind-numbing encounter.
Do you choose a familiar name, and then find out an just as respectable local car rental company is a good deal cheaper?
Do you select a business simply to discover when you arrive that they dont have an office near to where youre staying?
At Cheap Tenerife Car Rental we believe that if were encouraging you to explore Tenerifes countryside, then we should also provide some information to help you decide which car rental company on Tenerife is best suited to your particular needs, so weve compiled this guide to help the decision making process.
Taking your hire car to La Gomera
Some people want to know if they can bring their hire car to other Islands. Most car leasing firms on Tenerife dont allow this. Some, like CICAR, allow you to take your rental car to La Gomera only.
However, the cost for taking a hire car, plus two passengers to La Gomera can be around 145 on the Fred Olson ferry and around 130 on the Naviera Armas ferry, so it might work out cheaper to hire a car once youre there.
Petrol prices on Tenerife
Petrol is considerably cheaper in the Canary Islands than in many other places; at the time of writing, around 0.80 per litre for unleaded (sin plomo 98), obviously this fluctuates. The island is very well served by petrol stations, so most of the time you dont have to worry about running out of fuel.
However there are some awfully long stretches where there arent any stations and weve included warnings about these areas in our website. There are also large differences in prices between assorted companies on Tenerife.
PCAN and Texaco are frequently a few cents cheaper per litre than BP, Shell and Repsol with CEPSA falling somewhere in between.
Parking
It seems common sense, but having read the occasional report on travel watchdog websites of people having their hire car towed away, Im not so sure. Treat parking exactly as you would at home. Dont park on yellow lines and be watchful where you see blue lines; these by and large mean you need to feed the parking meter.
Above all dont presume that because everyone else is double parked, parking on crossings, corners and anyplace there is the smallest space, that you can do the same, unless you want to invoke sods law.
Insurance
Its worth checking with your car insurance company if your policy covers you when driving abroad. If it does, you might not need insurance through the car hire firm on Tenerife.

Trying to prepare for a holiday can be a pain; there are a variety of things you want organized and you certainly do not want to forget any essentials such as your passport or itinerary. Doing research prior to your holiday is a great idea since you have the opportunity to find deals on things such car rentals, airfare and entertainment; this is essential if you are planning on traveling to Europe as it can be pricey. Another reason you want to do your research ahead of time is that you can find some great deals on hotels and, as you are undoubtedly going to be spending several days at a time in different cities, this is a great way to save a bit of money.
If you decide to travel to Europe at the last minute you might lose out on some of the ?book ahead? deals that you might otherwise have found. Other problems can arise when you go spur of the moment. Poor planning can create late arrivals which can mess with anything you had previously booked. It is also likely that you will forget to pack your essential items which can ruin a holiday. Panic and distress can ruin a holiday before it has even begun.
If you think you may, at some point, be traveling to Europe on the spur of the moment here are a few tips to keep in mind to ensure a great holiday.
- Writing lists can literally save your holiday. Even if you have an ongoing list stored away in your brain I recommend that you actually put it all out on paper. I recommend that you plan ahead for that unexpected trip and write down what you would want to take with you if you were to suddenly head to Europe. I even suggest that you list the basics such as your passport and toiletries as these are items which are typically forgotten. Finally, put your list in a safe place where you can access it immediately if the need arises.
- Talk to friends or agents who have traveled there already. Prepare lists of discounted lodging and find out if there are any items particularly necessary for European travel (i.e. power converters). Through your discussions with others you are creating resources for when you do find yourself winging your way to Europe.
- Subscribe or get log ins to discount hotels in Europe. This means that you need to get onto their website and log yourself in regularly in order to see what deals they have. This way, you are aware of what discounts there are, so that when you get to start going to Europe and have to travel at the last minute, you can immediately log on to the website that you need and get yourself discounts on lodging.
- Find out what your current memberships offer in terms of European travel. Various credit cards offer reward points on air travel or entertainment tickets while some insurance companies have car rental discounts. Again, doing some prior research should help you get some great deals!
- Do your research either through the internet or travel magazines and read up on what are the best destinations in Europe. Familiarize yourself with some of the history as well! Prior research will definitely get you a long way to having the holiday of a lifetime!

A popular tradition among high school and college students alike is heading somewhere warm and sunny for the week known as Spring Break. Regrettably, most people?s current financial state with this economy eliminates a few of the more expensive destinations.
However, there are five top spots college students can make reservations for now and look forward to several days of sun and sand.
* Ft. Lauderdale has long been one of the most popular destinations for Spring Break. Throughout the past few years Florida has undergone some changes however Ft. Lauderdale still tops the list for affordable Spring Break destinations.
* Acapulco has become a popular destination for college students. Packages are usually available which make the destination affordable as well as trendy.
* While Bermuda is always at the top of the list, it is quite expensive. Therefore, Aruba has become the alternative destination with fabulous beaches, wonderful people, and fantastic weather. Unlike Bermuda, all Aruba hotels are on the beach.
* The Bahamas is another affordable option and offers reasonably priced accommodations and fabulous beaches.
* Finally, for an all-inclusive package to either “nowhere” or from Florida to the Bahamas, cruises have become highly touted as the best possible vacation venue for most college students.
Safety is an important consideration, especially if you plan to travel to Mexico. In popular resort areas such as Cancun crime has risen exponentially and the United States advises against traveling there. Fortunately Acapulco is the exception.
Panama City Beach, FL is one final destination for you to consider. It has become a booming destination for Spring Breakers in the past few years. Comprised of beautiful beaches, plentiful parties, and hopping clubs many college students will want to consider Panama City Beach as a final “resort.”
If you are looking to relax and unwind with your friends in a great atmosphere any of the above destinations will definitely meet your needs. Don?t forget to book early for the best deals and a guaranteed spot. Some of the best deals can be found using the internet or your personal travel agent.

Fixed and Comprehensive Medical Insurance for Visitors Policies
June 20, 2009 by Ray Sondeo
Visitors insurance providers generally offer two different types of visitors health insurance for visitors to USA plan: scheduled (or fixed benefits) and comprehensive. Most providers offer both options though some offer only one or the other.
Fixed benefits provide a maximum amount of coverage for each type of medical expense. This means that the policies total limit will not be paid for every type of medical treatment and that each class of medical expense is considered separately.
If an injury such as a broken arm is suffered on the trip, the policy will only cover the costs of treatment up to the stated maximum for each class of expense (limit for MRIs, limit for ER fees etc). The policy holder would have to pay the balance. In the event of multiple treatments being needed, each would be considered separately and this can become very expensive for the policy holder. Of course, the odds of suffering multiple injuries on a trip are fairly low and this should be considered.
Fixed rate policies work best for frugal shoppers, as the premiums are typically much lower than with other plans. Basic coverage for anyone willing to expose themselves to some amount of risk still provides low-level protections for the traveler.
Comprehensive visitors insurance covers any injury up to the entire policy maximum. In this manner, multiple problems will be covered as long as their total amount of expense does not exceed the whole policy maximum amount.
For example, if a visitor suffered from an infection while on a trip, the comprehensive visitor insurance would use up the entire policy amount if necessary to pay for this expense. The same infection under a fixed rate policy, however, would have limited coverage and the insured very likely bear a good portion of the medical expenses.
The big difference between fixed rate and comprehensive visitors medical insurance is the degree of payout. Both styles of coverage have similar policy maximums. It really just depends upon the customer?s preference. The fixed benefits plan you obtain limited coverage at a cheaper price.
The most important thing to remember is that insurance for visitors of any type is absolutely vital for international travelers. Many benefits of health insurance for visitors can be utilized through a comprehensive or fixed rate policy. Some coverage is better than none to prevent financial and physical ruin while travelling abroad.
Benefits of Tourist Medical Insurance

While you plan a trip overseas, in addition to your checklist of travel items which normally includes currency, baggage and passport, you need to include tourist insurance as a top priority to protect you from the various risks that could ruin your travel in case you are not secured. The insurance would also free you from the worries of the trip and help you focus on the main purpose.
Normally, some travelers think that paying a premium is just a waste of money. In fact, they do not realize what relief medical insurance for tourists could provide in case they face any of the emergencies that could result in unmanageable financial expenses. For example, evacuation expenses could cost almost $90,000. Think what this expense would leave you with if you have to pay this money right out of your pocket.
There are many unexpected events that are possible which could really put you into stressful situations. Imagine the medical expenses you need to bear in case you suddenly fall seriously ill. In addition to hospitalization expenses, you would receive a hefty bill for doctor consultation and also the medical procedures carried out for diagnosis. Another common risk is baggage loss which would really give you a lot of trauma, especially in a foreign country. You may have to suddenly advance the date of your return journey due to some personal emergency. These kinds of unforeseen circumstances are covered by the tourist insurance plan which relieves you of the unmanageable financial stress you may have to go through in case you are not covered.
The benefits that you can avail from the tourist insurance plans depend on the policy type you opt for. Most of the insurance coverage options include prescription drugs, hospitalization, emergency evacuation, surgery, doctor consultation fees and medical procedures.
The other optional benefits include repatriation of remains back to the homeland in case of death due to accidents during the trip. Most of the insurance policies allow you to include the benefits for your appointed beneficiary depending on the policy you opt for.
Tourist insurance is the answer for ensuring a safe and secured trip during each trip. You can choose from the different kinds of plans and coverage options that would be beneficial to you. While fixed policies offer limited coverage, comprehensive plans cover wider range of risks and reimburses a percentage of the actual cost.
You may encounter various challenging circumstances while you travel abroad. The most common and dangerous risk is illness and the expensive expenses that you may incur due to doctor consultation, hospitalization or medical procedures. If you are covered by a proper insurance for tourist plan, it would relieve you of the mental trauma to bear these expenses right from your pocket, especially since you may have limited finances with you while you go outside the country. Be prepared and plan well for your overseas trip. Do not ignore availing of insurance coverage thinking you may save a few dollars. The risk associated with it is much more expensive than the actual premium costs.
