After spring, summer is the season that most people await for and pray for. It is the season where people are reportedly having more fun and a cheerful disposition. Summer is the season where people go out and have fun outdoors and explore their surroundings. It is the season where most families book for a holiday or a vacation for a few days to along week gathering. Summer is fun under the sun!
Every year families either got o the beach or the nearby resort to beat the summer heat. Kids have fun frolicking in the sand while adults feel it is the time to get that golden and awesome tan. Beaches and lakeshore places such as Florida and Miami flock with tourists, their hotels get booked early in advanced. Truly, summer is the season where people just lay back and enjoy what nature has to offer.
Summer, like any other season caters different kinds of fun fete. Summer celebrations are mostly outdoors. Beaches and resorts are most probably the venues for summer shows and bazaars. .
I remember one summer I got the privilege to watch a concert of my favorite band. The concert was held in a beach (beachfront). I consider it as a memorable experience having my favorite band serenade me and at the same time hear the waves hit the shore, it was truly an unexplainable feeling. The concert is just one feature of the event, along with it are bazaars. Bazaars in the event provide the newest fashion trends. I was given the chance to find a sarong that fits my taste.
Summer event is the time to unwind. It is the time to forget all the worries of our daily life. It is the best time to bond with friends and family without any pressure of meeting deadlines!
Pots and Pans: Fair Guide

I have always been skeptical about the concept of doing and selling pottery at shows and at fairs.
You see, the cons of using pottery to rake in a good base and money outweigh that of the pros of indulging in pottery. I rarely would recommend pottery to an entrepreneur. But of course, one would hear the success stories of pottery entrepreneurs. So here are a few personal experiences that I hope would make it easier for you to decide whether pottery is a good thing for you, or a no-no.
For one thing, pottery skills are needed to bring your talent to levels acceptable for consumers to buy your product. Unless you have natural talent and have been honing your skills, you would have to invest in buying yourself a good book, paying a tutor, or going to a pottery skill to invest in yourself.
Second, pottery materials. You need the equipment, you need the materials, and you certainly need the time and the patience. Pottery requires mixing, molding, tempering and baking. If you cannot routinely follow these, then it is best you drop the idea.
The big difference with pottery at shows is the change of venue. There are a lot of things to be done. For one thing, preparation of the prepared pieces of earthenware would require you to transport the heavy stuff from your shop to the site.
The second one is the inclusion of demos in your booth. This is a BIG thing.
Having demos in your booth actually keeps people interested in your work and in your final product. It doesn’t have to come out finished like that. You can just leave it in the mold, or dramatically bake it in the kiln. Just let people know how pots are done.
Sell at shows that target the upper crust of society. The common people, with the stories of recession and laying-off at jobs, won’t easily buy into your wares. Pots are mainly ornamental, less functional. Unless you’re doing something along the lines of tea cups and tea pots that would put most factories to shame, I suggest you start something ornamental, cheap and functional. Like paper weights for example.

Although considered as a folk dance, square dancing is still recognized as a cultural and historical dance especially among the youth of today. Square Dancing has long been one of the traditional dances of the United States. It is often called as the Modern Western Dance. It involves dancing with a partner. Western movies like Sweet Home Alabama features Square Dancing as a form of merriment and fun gathering. In here partners are seen dancing in a Swing-like way in an upbeat tune.
Just like the Square Dancing activity, the Myrtle Beach Bike Week is a weekly event that features biking aficionados. It is an event where biking enthusiasts gather together for a day full of bonding and biking activities. Myrtle Beach is the home where fun gatherings and exciting stuffs are happening. Events such as Bike Week which is intended solely for bikers are happening.
Generally there are two types of Square Dance, the Traditional Square Dance or the “old time square dance” and the Modern Western Dance.
Dancing is not just a form of recreation but an exercise as well. Bollywood and Aerobics are fitness regimens that uses the forms of dancing. Nowadays people would want to get in shpae while having fun. Being fit and having fun while doing it is the best way to take care of one’s body and one’s spirit. Whenever I’m in the gym I always see to it to look at the dancing and aerobics classes so I can have fun while getting in shape.

In Illinois there is a film festival entitled Ebertfest which is hailed from its founder, roger Ebert. Roger Ebert is a film aficionado who created this festival in the aim of showing to the public films that he deemed “overlooked” but great. Every year, indie films and some international films are being shown at Ebertfest for the pleasure of the attendees. Ebert personally handpicks the films that are to be shown in his festival.
The film festival is organized by the College of Communications at the University of Illinois. It is previewed at the legendary Virginia Theatre in Champaign every April at the onset of Spring. A lot of aficionados and enthusiasts of the film industry are expected to grace this event. Every year, 12 to 14 films are being shown at the festival. Ebert really makes it a point to offer the public very good and quality “overlooked” films through his prestigious festival. Ebert was able to make up a unique concept for a film festival that is why people around the country flock to Virginia Theatre every April to view its new offerings.
Each year, the festival shows one silent film together with a live orchestral accompaniment. An example of a silent film that the festival has shown is the famous horror flick: “Nosferatu”. Musical films are also shown once in a while at the festival because Ebert feels that it is also overlooked. The Ebertfest really gave the “overlooked” films much exposure and mileage.
Before the start of each film Ebert is usually seen onstage of the theatre giving a brief synopsis about the flick. He summarizes the story and gives the attendees full overview as to why the movie is handpicked and why he deems it to be of best quality. It is safe to say that Roger Ebert is a man with a concrete passion on film, proof of it is his passionate endeavor to make this festival a possible undertaking.
If visiting in Illinois, don’t forget to catch a peek of the Ebertfest and see what “overlooked” films you missed in your life!
Summer Risks: Heat

You try your best to keep your kids safe, but sadly, it is either in the form of your kids, or the form of your environment that could very well bring your kids to the brink of danger. It may be something harmless, something inconspicuous, but when it happens, you will be taken in for a big surprise. These dangers are very much existent and prevalent in the outside environment.
The sun. It is very important to life in this world. Without the sun, the earth would be nothing but a big chunk of ice in outer space. It would be safe to say, that without the sun (and the proper distance from it) everything would be not as it is today. But too much of the sun would prove to be very uncomfortable and often times fatal to most of us, human beings. There are two dangers oftentimes associated with too much exposure or being unprotected from the sun; sunburns and heat stroke.
Heat stroke, or heat strees, happens when people stay too much out of the sun and suffer from severe dehydration because of it. Symptoms that a person is suffering from heatstroke are thirst, fatigue, dizziness or nausea, cramps, vomiting, fever and head aches.
Kids are oftentimes susceptible to this when they play out too much in the sun (not realizing the time) or when trapped inside a car. DO NOT leave a kid inside the car while you do your shopping or office stuff. At least not without company and an open window.
Sunburns happen when most light skinned folks forget to put their daily dose of sunscree or sunblock. Melanin is a very important thing nowadays, and unless you want to spend at least two weeks cringing in pain when you shift in your bed, change out of your clothes or getting poked at in weird places, you might want to observe steps on how to protect yourself from sunburns.
In Summer Festivals

Going into a summer festival whether day or night, is a very fun and enjoyable experience for the family. It provides a good opportunity for bonding with your kids (or for the kids to bond with their families, who oftentimes do not meet anymore due to constraints in time). So anyway, you decide to spend your time with them in the state fair, or maybe in the state festival. And we do it at night. We don’t want anyone fainting from heat stroke, or getting singed due to sunburn. But there is a hidden threat lurking in the next corner. Or rather, flying around.
Yes, insects. More specifically, the toxic ones. Or if not, those that carry diseases with them. These are some of the hidden dangers of going out into a festival. Festivals bring people together. And where there’s people together, heat emanates from all around. And when that happens, this attracts insects from miles and miles away, those who are expecting a good meal.
In a surprising revelation, most parents do not realize the relevance of insect repellents in these types of situations. The AAP or the American Academy of Pediatrics strongly recommend you use insect repellents if going out with children on haphazard festival sites, like an open field or by the river or lakeside. A lot of these places harbor breeding grounds for insects and diseases.
If you are not the type to place various emollients on your kid’s skin, you might want to resort to something more time-tested (that is if your kid doesn’t really care about making a fashion statement. Most teenage girls would scorn at you for this).
Have your kids dress into something loose-fitting, and one that has long sleeves and non-bright colors. Long sleeves for protection of the arms from bites and the dark colors to deter insects from detecting you (bright colors apparently attract more insects than those who don’t).
The Vidalia Onion Arts & Crafts Festival at Vidalia, Georgia

Vidalia, Georgia will once again feature its 32nd Annual Vidalia Onion Arts & Crafts Festival on a two-day event on April 24-26. Vidalia onions are generally famous throughout the country because of its sweet taste. Vidalia onions were cultivated and sold to hundreds of stores across the United States since its humble beginnings in Toombs County 70 years ago. The Vidalia onion is a trademark variety of onion that offers a sweet and tasty blend to dishes.
As a quick history of Vidalia onions, the Vidalia onion was discovered in 1931 by a farmer named George Coleman. It was the start of spring and he discovered that the onion he cultivated was sweet tasting and not spicy. He thought it to be a great variety and decided to sell it for a higher price for bigger profits. Farmers around the county heard of Coleman’s discovery and started to cultivate their own sweet tasting onions, thus the name Vidalia onions were born.
It was proven that the low sulfur content of the county soil and the mild climate of Georgia resulted to the sweetness of Vidalia’s onions. Only a specific land soil in Georgia has the capacity to grow the same flavored onions. In 1990 the Vidalia onion became Georgia’s State Vegetable. People from across the country visit Georgia to have a taste of their unique, sweet tasting onion variants.
Onion lovers will enjoy tasting Vidalia’s freshly cooked onion rings. An onion eating contest will also grace the event. Fun rides and activities for the kids are included in the Festival. The whole family will surely enjoy the whole day affair of being at the Vidalia Onion Arts & Crafts Festival. An Arts & Crafts classes and lessons will grab the kids’ fancy.
If staying in Georgia, never miss a chance to attend the Vidalia Onion Arts & Crafts Fair. Bring the whole family for a whole day of fun and delicious onion recipes.
The Positive Outlook: In Breaking Out of Your Comfort Zone 2
April 27, 2009 by Bob Jones
This is where “breaking” the comfort zone comes in. It is the continuous want that should drive you to do better, find a better place for yourself. Be better, live better, and love your job better. But often, people are bound by their thrall-like tendencies to seek improvement.
There is also a psychological reason for this, but let us not delve too much into the mind. Blaming yourself for mistakes is like shooting yourself in the foot. Highly stupid and definitely not exactly helpful.
So in consequence, there are some stuffs that you have to override. For one, it’s contention. Big men aspire. They dream a lot, often these dreams being very insatiable to the core. But it is this driving force that makes them do a lot of things. Some great, some of them infamous, but common men would envy them. Because they have lived chasing their dream. And most often, died running in their feet.
The other thing you have to override is fear. Fear in danger is more dangerous than danger itself. If you constantly think of the danger of wanting progress and development, you will never prosper. You will only live to work for the next day and somehow die in that cycle of living we call a routine.
Another thing to override is habit, and is one of the other things to break. For whatever purpose, habit is not at all a good thing in the constant world of change. One needs malleability, but they also need to have the backbone and the cojones to pull off a decision together, and one that needs a degree of courage to do so. Don’t be afraid or risking. If you lose, treat it as a lesson. If you win, then treat it is a privilege and a basis for your next courses of action.

Selling Your Crafts: Getting Started

I am friends with a lot of talented individuals whose creativity oozes out with the way they talk and do their thing. They are people who like to do their thing apart from anything else in the world. They started selling their crafts and the income they receive from this made them quit their daytime jobs. They have come to terms on getting to the next level.
If youre a creative person or crafter and would like to transform your hobby into a business, then there are some tips on how you can get started. First step is you need to establish a name and logo for your business. A word of advice: consider the product youre selling as it has to coincide with your name and logo. A good business name and logo should also give a hint on what kind of product youre selling.
Next thing is to get a schedule of the craft fairs in your neighborhood to give you a proper lead time on developing your product. Get to know the reservation officer and inquire on how you can avail of a booth space or exhibit space. Learn and negotiate other details. It is also important to ask them about their policies as you dont want to be kicked out in the middle of the event, with your customers watching!
It is also advisable to work on your products prices and terms of payment. Cash payments are usually preferred during fairs although card are also most often than not acceptable. You may wan to purchase a credit card swipe for this. Try checking out the prices of other competitors so you can have a better view at how much you can ask for each of your product. You may opt to lower your prices for better chances of selling.
Relax and enjoy the experience of meeting new and prospective clients. Dont forget to place your name and contact details on each craft as orders may just start pouring in!
