Finding Flights to Pattaya

February 27, 2010 by Tom Martens

Each year Pattaya receives more than five million visitors. It became a well-liked place for vacation and has continued to stand as such. You can get on Bangkok Airlines and get connected from the UK to Pattaya’s U-Tapao Airport via Phuket. Or you better just trip to Bangkok, from there you get many options to fly into Phucket, which is only 150 kms away from Pattaya, so it is much easier if you arrive to it by road.

You can decide to fly in, U-Tapao, which is primarily a military facility. It is the closest airport handling commercial passenger flights but only to a handful of destinations. The direct door-to-door minibus is the quickest transportation option to get you from U-Tapao to Pattaya, about 30 minutes.

In the last few years, Pattaya has tried to draw families of visitors with a new image. The beer bars and go-go joints have been de-emphasized, and now families from Thailand and from all over Asia visit Pattaya in large numbers. The beaches nearby are excellent, and many kinds of entertainment can be found, ranging from shooting to golf to bungee jumping.

Getting around Pattaya offers its own options. The songthaew, public passenger pick-up vehicles, also called Baht Busses, are available throughout Pattaya. You may also choose the local bus, motorbike taxi, or meter taxi. If you wish to brave the erratic (by Western standards) traffic, you can hire a car, motorbike or scooter.

Pattaya sees the most visitors around Christmas and New Year’s, when visitors want to go somewhere sunny and warm. Several of Pattaya’s beaches are very popular, such as Pattaya Beach near the city center. Pattaya Beach has many stores, hotels, and nightspots nearby. Many jetskis, powerboats, and deckchairs are available for rent in the area.

There is a popular place for families just south of the city called Jomtein Beach. If you don’t wish to go to the beach, there is an entertainment complex at Pattaya Park, which features a water park, monorail, roller coaster, and activities for the children.

Both offer the primary scuba diving destinations for Pattaya. Is accessible by speedboat or ferry The Near Islands are close to Pattaya’s northern shores and the Far Islands lie directly to the west,Ko Lan, or Coral Island.Islands surrounding Pattaya also offer great beaches.

The North Pattaya Fishing Park provides rod and bait, serves refreshments and has live music after dark.Fishing is a popular diversion. Deep sea fishing excursions often include breakfast, lunch and a stop at one of the island beaches for swimming.

Another island specialty is golf. More than 20 courses are within an hour’s drive from Pattaya, and many are designed by golf’s most famous names. Laem Chabang International Country Club is ranked as one of Thailand’s top three courses and is considered the finest in this area.

Underwater World aquarium offers visitors an up-close chance to view the marine life in the Gulf of Thailand. The acrylic pedestrian tunnel gives a’0 degree view of rare angel fish, sharks, stingrays and turtles.

The elephant village in Pattaya has hour long shows each day, which show methods of catching, working with, and playing with elephants.

Visiting Canada Makes Wonderful Vacation Memories

When those in the United States consider traveling abroad on vacation they often forget to realize that Canada is in contention for the trip. Since Canada is a neighboring country to the United States it has much to offer. Most of the Canadian population lives within a few hundred miles from the border line, Canada has a large country for traveler to explore.

Canada has everything from big, metropolitan cities, to small country towns and everything in between. About the only thing that you can’t find are tropical sandy beaches and good surfing spots. Probably the most famous site in the whole country is the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. For anyone who has never seen the Falls, it is quite a site. It has become a popular destination for Honeymoons in the past and has gotten a bad rap for being too touristy. Although it has been thought of that way in the past, it is really a sight to behold. It is a natural wonder that everyone should see.

Aside from the Falls, Canada is full of wonderful natural beauty. If you love ruggedness and the outdoors, then Canada is the perfect place to visit. There is a lot of cattle and grazing lands, and areas in the west that are mountainous and have a close feel to the old west of the United States. There are many cattle ranches and cowboy hats for all visitors to enjoy.

To go with the scenery, there are also many wonderful activities for you to partake in. There is mountain climbing, kicking and biking. If you are looking for water fun, there is white rafting and fishing. For hunters there is rich unspoiled wilderness that makes for a great day. If you are less of an outdoors persona there is still much for you to do and see in the southern country cities. These large cities have all that the larger cities in the United States have to offer, but with a different feel and atmosphere.

From Toronto to Vancouver, there are plenty of great destinations. Visit Quebec and you will feel like you are visiting France on a European vacation. They offer professional sports teams and plenty of entertainment. For people that are thinking about going on a vacation and visiting countries around the world, there is no better place to start than with the country just north of you. You will need a passport, but you can take your own car and travel at your own leisure seeing the sites of this beautiful country.

Mango Airlines

Mango is South Africa’s newest low cost airline, getting its start in October 2006. It faces hefty competition from more established low-fare airlines, 1time and Kulula Air.

Mango is owned by South African Airways, and this is sometimes a point of contention among air travelers and competing airlines. Tired of losing market share to the other low cost carriers, SAA launched Mango offering starting prices for seats that were almost half that of its competition, sparking problems on two fronts.

According to Mango’s reports, 15,000 booking requests were made in the first 10 minutes after the website went live.First, its website, its major base of operations, crashed as eager would-be customers overwhelmed the site to take advantage of the cut rate price.

The airline was criticised by other airlines for overcharging because it was a goverment-funded subsidiary of SAA and was funded by taxpayers. Mango didn’t need to charge so much since they were subsidized, so it was believed their business policy was not fair.

In spite of its less-than-stellar beginning, Mango is already reporting healthy profits.

Current routes include: Johannesburg to Cape Town, Cape Town to Johannesburg, Cape Town to Durban, Durban to Cape Town, Bloemfontein to Cape Town, and Cape Town to Bloemfontein

Available only via its website, vouchers are not acceptable for this special.Mango offers some attractive fares called cool-off flights in which passengers pay only R175 (one-way, all inclusive) to fly to Durban or Johannesburg.

The mango fleet is very safe as it is made up of Boeing B737-800. It can carry’6 guests in leather seats and the seats are arranged in two rows of three seats on either side. Travelers are informed about their seating arrangements after they check in and they can also choose the in-flight food service.

Between the age of 7 days and two years, a child may ride in the lap of the adult who flies with him. Should a child turn two before the return flight, however, a separate tickey must be bought for him.

Mango also offers accommodations for handicapped or impaired travelers, providing access for several types of wheelchairs. These passengers and those with small children will not be asked to sit in emergency exit rows.

Pets are not allowed in the cabins on Mango’s flights. The ability to transport your pet in the pressurized cargo hold is subject to availability.

For added flexibility for this group, Mango Plus tickets provide access to a business class lounge, 10 kg extra luggage and vouchers for meals. Customers may choose to pay for tickets by credit card, by Edgars account (adds approximately R40), cash, voucher, or POLi – internet banking and debit cards.Mango offers Mango Flex tickets which allow ticket holders to change the date, time and destinations of their tickets. These features apply to travel during the week, not weekend flights. Business travelers are the main participants in this program.

Mango has partnered with several other companies to offer additional discounts and conveniences. Tempest SIXT, a low-cost car hire company, offers deeper discounts for Mango customers. A partnership with Edcon gives Mango customers the option to use store credit cards to pay for their tickets. And Vodacom credit card holders can save up to 25 percent when they purchase Mango tickets on their Voadacom card.

Summer is only a few months away and families have begun to start discussing where they would like to go on that long awaited summer vacation. This also means that many are going to be searching for an affordable car rental, and this can be simpler then you think if you follow the the tips outlined below.

1. If possible sign up as a frequent traveler with the company of your choice. When you sign up the company will ask for an email address, which they will then send discounts and promotions to. This, however, does not mean that you can only use them with that company. Many companies are know to honor competitor discounts and promotions.

2. Search the internet for any coupons and discounts. There are many discounts offered through various coupon sites and informational web pages. Then even have special sites that deal with nothing but promotional codes for various companies.

3. Check with some of the discount travel websites like Expedia, Orbitz, and Travelocity although this is a good place to search for the best rates, it is also wise to follow up with the actual companies themselves to make sure that they are really offering you the best possible deals.

4. If you are flexible on your travel dates, you will be able to get better deals. Most rental companies actually will charge you less money, the longer you are renting. The best deals are usually offered for weekend and week long rentals.

5. When you reserve your car, never reserve he car you actually desire. If you are looking to rent a luxury car, instead reserve the mid size. When you go to the rental company to get pick up your reserved car, ask about an upgrade. Most times they will upgrade for a small amount of money, as the car will only be sitting in the lot and they would be making no money on it otherwise. This is the best way to get a luxury car at a mid sized price.

Cheap airfares are important now because money is tight and people are traveling for the season. Getting a cheap flight through Expedia is simple.

Flying While Pregnant – Tips To Ensure Your Safety

January 22, 2010 by Adriana Noton

As long as expectant mothers do not have any complications with their pregnancy and they are not flying when the due date is close, air travel while pregnant is normally very safe. It is safest for a pregnant woman to travel by air during the second trimester which is weeks 18 to 27. If an expectant mother is more than 36 weeks pregnant, most airlines will prohibit her from flying because of the increased risk of delivering during the flight. Although it is safe for pregnant mothers to fly, they have to be aware of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and developing blood clots, particularly during long flights.

The following tips will help ensure a safe flight when pregnant:

1. During a flight, a pregnant woman should keep a number of items nearby. Do not drink beverages containing caffeine and alcohol, but drink plenty of water. Keep your nutrition levels at their optimum levels by bringing fresh fruit which is full of vitamins such as plums, grapes, dried apricots or oranges. To avoid catching a cold or flu, wear a face mask. Bring ear plugs and an eye mask.

2. To make the flight as comfortable as possible, wear loose fitting and comfy clothing. Often a pregnant woman’s feet will swell. To make it more comfortable during the flight, wear a support hose and shoes with modifiable straps. To decrease blood clots and Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) try to get up from your seat and walk up and down the aisle every hour or so. Get plenty of rest during the flight. Book a seat that allows for the most leg movement. Many airline websites have information about the varying legroom on each of their seats, or check a legroom guide to learn about the different sizes reported by each airline. A bulkhead seat and an aisle seat are a comfortable choice because there is more room to move.

3. Most medical experts recommend that a pregnant woman should not fly before 12 weeks because of the risk of a miscarriage and morning sickness. After 28 weeks, most airlines will need a letter from the expectant mother’s doctor saying she is healthy enough to fly as well as verifying the estimated due date. Because each airline has its own guidelines for flying while pregnant, when a pregnant woman books a flight, she should inform the airline that she is expecting. If booking a flight online, make sure that you check the airline’s website regarding their rules about flying when pregnant. A woman can also telephone the airline about her pregnancy ahead of time.

4. When you make your flight preparations, it is important not to be shy about giving the airlines all of your information and asking them important questions. You can also ask the airline for comfortable seating. It is important to be aware that many insurers will not insure a pregnant woman who flies because it is considered a higher risk so it is important to check with your insurance provider about their policy coverage. You can always purchase air travel insurance.

When flying while pregnant, it is important to get as much rest as possible. Flying during a pregnancy is a time when it is really worth spending a few extra dollars. Some airlines will charge a few extra dollars for seating that has a bit more room. Being pregnant does not have to make your flight uncomfortable. By consulting with your doctor, making the right flight preparations, and asking the essential questions, you will greatly increase your chances of having a restful and relaxing flight.

Family Travel – Tips For Flying With Children

January 12, 2010 by Adriana Noton

Traveling by car with children can be easily managed. Kids get use to a car quickly and learn how to entertain themselves. As well, it is easy to stop the car and talk to them when they are not behaving. Traveling by airplane with children can be much more challenging. However, by employing a few simple measures, you can make the flying experience much more enjoyable.

The following is a list of helpful tips to make flying with children less stressful:

1. It is important to make sure you are prepared for the flight. There are a number of items you will need to board the airplane. Make sure you bring your child’s passport and airplane ticket. When possible, purchase direct nonstop flight tickets so that you do not have to change planes which often is a hassle when traveling with children. For international air travel, book a bassinet for infants up to about 8kg. Ask the airline if they permit early boarding for families. Call the airline to see if they provide child seats. If they do not provide such seats, bring your own child seat. Arrive at the airport early and ask for bulkhead seats as they are roomier.

2. To ensure that your flight is peaceful, you need to keep your children busy while in the air. Many airlines offer video games, seat-back movies, activity books, comic books, and coloring books. You can also bring your own crayons, paper, puzzle books, toys, and game books. It will keep the kids entertained and focused during the flight and allow you to relax.

3. Many airlines will offer snacks; however, the food they distribute is not always suitable for children. Bring your kids favorite snacks and drinks. Do not give them food items that are high in sugar because it can cause them to become hyper during the flight. Water and juice are good choices. Other food items that are good choices include: bread sticks, small boxes of dry cereal, carrot sticks, apple pieces, raisins, bananas, rice cakes, and dried fruit.

4. When planning where you will stay once you arrive at your destination, choose an accommodation that caters to children. There are many resorts and hotels that provide free meals for kids and even allow children to stay for free. Some places also offer children’s activities, cribs, babysitting services, and recreational facilities for children.

5. It is important to keep children healthy, happy, quiet, and safe during the flight. When changing altitudes, children will often experience ear pain. For infants, you can lessen the pain and screaming by giving them a pacifier or a bottle. You can give older children gum to chew.

Because flying with children can be stressful, the night before the flight, make sure you get a lot rest. You want to make flying with children comfortable and enjoyable. By preparing ahead of the flight and planning how to keep the kids busy during the flight, you can help reduce the chances of problems arising and help ensure the flight is relaxing and fun.

Tips On Staying Healthy While Traveling

Because of the increased news coverage about viruses such as the H1N1 virus, more people are realizing that they have to take health precautions when traveling. It seems as though everywhere we go there is a risk of picking up some ‘bug’ that can make us sick, with some ‘bugs’ that can make us gravely ill. Fortunately, there are a number of easy to implement measures one can take to stay healthy while traveling.

1. To avoid such illnesses as travelers’ diarrhea, food poisoning, and illnesses caused from contaminated water, one should take a number of precautions such as only drinking bottled water. Make sure you eat food that is well cooked and has been thoroughly washed and peeled. Be wary of unsanitary restaurants. Look for well known restaurants in traveler guide books. Only eat freshly prepared foods and avoid raw vegetables and fruits. You should also stay away from raw seafood. As well, you should not drink beverages that contain ice cubes. It is important to eat healthy and stay hydrated. A package of berries or nuts is healthier than eating sugary and fatty snacks.

2. Keep such health items as hand sanitizer, antibiotic ointment, and Kleenex on hand. Use hand sanitizers frequently and do not touch your mouth, nose, or eyes. Rubbing a bit of antibiotic ointment in your nasal passages will stop airborne germs from entering the body. As well, anti bacterial wipes are handy disinfectants. You can use them to wipe down doorknobs, toilet seats, and anything else that can contain germs

3. You should travel with a medical kit. This can include band aids, antibiotic ointment, aspirin, Tylenol, medicine for diarrhea and an upset stomach, and Vitamin C. A week or two before your trip, you should boost your immune system by exercising, eating healthy and taking vitamin C.

4. When you are traveling by plane, and are concerned about catching a virus, you can wear a surgical mask. You can also carry a small water bottle to spray your face to stay rehydrated during the flight. You should also make sure to wipe down seats, arm rests, and head rests with a disinfectant wipe. Avoid using airline blankets and pillows as they can carry germs. When using flight bathrooms, use tissues to turn doorknobs and faucets as well as flushing toilets to avoid E.coli infection.

5. When using the air vent, direct air flow to your chest so air is not blowing into your face. Try not to sit next to someone who has a cold. Keep all of your belongings in your carry on bag and store it in the overhead unit. As well, try to fly on days when there are less passengers flying. On long trips, make sure you get up every hour and stretch your legs to prevent blood clots.

Just because there a number of illnesses out there, it does not mean you have to stop traveling. By taking the proper health precautions, you can drastically improve your chances of having a great vacation with becoming afflicted with an illness.

Flying With Your Dog in a Private Plane

December 6, 2009 by Bruce Hogan

There is no doubt that most of us love our pets and are up for taking them with us everywhere we can. Its amazing to note that most dogs love going for a trip in the car. Mind you its not clear if it’s the car they love so much or just being with their owner.

All those Private Pilot dog lovers would be more than happy to take their canine friends with them on a flight. In fact some of them do. After the first few times you can pretty well determine how the dog is going to react to flying, but it can be a little unpredictable the first few times. Its not like being in a car where you can just pull over because the dog is nervous. Perhaps a wise idea would be to give the dog some preliminary training.

The first thing you want to ensure is that the dog will remain independent even if she/he is a little apprehensive. You don’t want your dog to be jumping around the plane and into your lap when you are trying to fly your plane. Its very important that you have a well trained obedient dog that is going to listen to your commands. Especially the command to sit. That way you will be more assured that you can talk the dog through its nervousness. If you dog has been in the habit of roaming around your car and sitting in your lap when driving then you will need to break him of this habit before you attempt flying with him.

If you dog is crate trained then this is perfect for you. The first few times you fly simply take the dog and crate for a flight. You will get a chance to see how the dog is going to react. You can also do this a few times to see if the dog will get over his fear safely for both of you. If your dog is not crate trained then do not attempt to adjust the dog to the crate and flying all at once. You will not be able to determine which is upsetting the dog. In addition, it is too stressful on the dog.

Noise control is going to be another issue you are going to have to consider. You know yourself what the engine noise does to your ears. A dogs hearing is much more sensitive than ours is. You will need to protect the dog by finding some protective hearing. Once again, do not introduce these to the dog a few minutes before your flight. Dogs don’t like surprises especially when it comes to their ears. Practice putting the ear protectors on your dog a little each day and for longer periods until he becomes comfortable with them.

Collars and harnesses can be a good safety feature as well. You can use these to keep your dog in his seat without the restraints of a crate. Once again, be sure your dog doesn’t mind being confined before flying. You don?t want to be dealing with dog problems when your flying requires all of your attention.

You know your dog better than anybody does. Assess the dog fairly and determine honestly if you think the dog would enjoy flying with you. Don?t put your dog through a nerve-wracking ordeal if he is the nervous type just because you want him with you.

Get your pilot licence in 10 days or less. Private Pilot DVD is the complete pilot training course that covers JAR and FAA pilots.
