Celebrating Earth Day in Stamford, Connecticut

Earth Day was celebrated yesterday, April 22. It was an event that commemorated the fight and advocacy for the preservation of our dear planet. Thanks to Earth Day committees and organizers, now the whole world is much aware on the effects that improper care for our planet can bring. Since it is Earth Day, we as habitants of our planet are expected to gain knowledge on the proper care of our surroundings.

Earth Hour is a part of the Earth Day campaign. It is a widely publicized event in the whole world since it requires all the country in the world to turn off their lights for one whole hour. The Earth Hour is done to save on the country and the world’s energy and electricity resources. It was first experimented in Sydney, Australia were it turned out to be a huge success. Earth Hour was a successful endeavor with several countries participating for it this year.

Green jobs are becoming more and more visible from this year onwards. Green jobs are jobs from companies that promote environmental safety and awareness among its habitants. An example of a green job is a man working for a solar company. We all know that a solar company makes solar panels. Solar panels are used for power, meaning that you could be saved from electricity costs. Green jobs are foreseen to reach new heights in the coming years.

Green artists’ response for Earth Day is by creating Recycled Art or Junk Art. How is this done? Artists make use of everyday materials or second hand materials in lieu of the art materials they were very accustomed to. An example of a green artist and his recycled art is Harvey Whitcomb and his mosaic looking crushed CD’s on frame. Judging from Whitcomb’s website, this green artist sure made excellent use of an everyday material to transform to a marvelous work of art.

In Stamford, Connecticut there will be an Earth day celebration where everyone is encouraged to attend. Be one step knowledgeable about how to care for our planet by joining the Earth Day activities at Stamford.
