Visit Madrid : La Plaza Mayor En Madrid

One of Madrid’s premier attractions for tourists is the Plaza Mayor, bringing in millions to visit it each year.
While it is not an architectural wonder like so many other attractions, The Plaza Mayor is the best place to experience Madrid’s welcoming atmosphere. Highly popular amongst tourists and Spanish residents, the Plaza is a great spot to come together with the many citizens of this nation.
Established centuries ago, the Plaza Mayor took its approximate current shape in 1790 after the most recent fire. It has been a public square in most literal terms throughout its existence, it’s been host to bullfights, politics, festivals and even public executions. It would be even more worth the trip if you should study the history of the area.
Holding up to 50,000 people at one time, squaring off at around 100m on each of it’s sides, it doesn’t seem to be on such a large scale. One will often find it crowded, considerably so in the summertime. There are still some festivals that take place during the year, and that is a great time to drop by in order to have the real Spanish experience.
It is perfect for having a drink or getting a bite to eat – or just sit back and relax – as there are several bars, cafes, and restaurants to visit there. A wide range of traditional Spanish dishes can be found, and at reasonable prices too. Many different shops are in the area to visit, so be sure to pick up some souvenirs.
Buildings that encircle the Plaza are convenient places for looking down upon events that are taking place down below. This way you can avoid the crowds and still drink in the atmosphere and experience the sights and sounds of The Plaza Mayor.
How to: Tenerife Car Rental

Tenerife Car Rental
With more than 120 vehicle leasing companies on delightful Tenerife as well as a bewildering number of Tenerife car hire agents, choosing which car hire company to select can be a mind-numbing encounter.
Do you choose a familiar name, and then find out an just as respectable local car rental company is a good deal cheaper?
Do you select a business simply to discover when you arrive that they dont have an office near to where youre staying?
At Cheap Tenerife Car Rental we believe that if were encouraging you to explore Tenerifes countryside, then we should also provide some information to help you decide which car rental company on Tenerife is best suited to your particular needs, so weve compiled this guide to help the decision making process.
Taking your hire car to La Gomera
Some people want to know if they can bring their hire car to other Islands. Most car leasing firms on Tenerife dont allow this. Some, like CICAR, allow you to take your rental car to La Gomera only.
However, the cost for taking a hire car, plus two passengers to La Gomera can be around 145 on the Fred Olson ferry and around 130 on the Naviera Armas ferry, so it might work out cheaper to hire a car once youre there.
Petrol prices on Tenerife
Petrol is considerably cheaper in the Canary Islands than in many other places; at the time of writing, around 0.80 per litre for unleaded (sin plomo 98), obviously this fluctuates. The island is very well served by petrol stations, so most of the time you dont have to worry about running out of fuel.
However there are some awfully long stretches where there arent any stations and weve included warnings about these areas in our website. There are also large differences in prices between assorted companies on Tenerife.
PCAN and Texaco are frequently a few cents cheaper per litre than BP, Shell and Repsol with CEPSA falling somewhere in between.
Parking
It seems common sense, but having read the occasional report on travel watchdog websites of people having their hire car towed away, Im not so sure. Treat parking exactly as you would at home. Dont park on yellow lines and be watchful where you see blue lines; these by and large mean you need to feed the parking meter.
Above all dont presume that because everyone else is double parked, parking on crossings, corners and anyplace there is the smallest space, that you can do the same, unless you want to invoke sods law.
Insurance
Its worth checking with your car insurance company if your policy covers you when driving abroad. If it does, you might not need insurance through the car hire firm on Tenerife.
Enjoying A Virtual Summer Sun During Winter Nights

No one can deny that the advent of the world wide web and the technology of the internet has led to some exciting possibilities, but in my experience one in particular stands out head and shoulders above the rest. This is the web cam, or web camera, a small device which can cost as little as a keyboard, but which is capable of extraordinary things. With one of these devices, you can broadcast live video, of pretty good quality, across the internet for anyone whose interested to have a look. It’s possible to pick a country – even a specific location, anywhere in the world – and enjoy a live video image of that place within a few mouse clicks.
For those people looking at investing overseas, one of the biggest and most significant decisions that they need to make right from the start is which country to invest in. There are plenty of websites, books and leaflets offering advice and information about a variety of possible locations, and in many cases these surprise people with possibilities that might not otherwise have been considered. Some people just go for the most traditional countries, such as Spain, but many people choose to buy into countries that are just starting to creep onto the radar as far as investment is concerned. But the problem is that photographs can be doctored, or taken on a particularly extraordinary summer’s day.
Overseas investors may seem to flit their attention from one country to another, from one continent to another, and the world suddenly seems a very small place indeed. Even those people who plan to go on holiday no longer seem as content with traditional resorts but instead turn their attention to little known locations that are less populated. We live in a world that is shrinking as a result of global technology, global business, cheap travel and online booking arrangements. We hardly have to leave the house to organise a trip to the other side of the world, yet there are still the miles to consider, and visiting several countries is still going to take time.
Web cams of course offer a wonderful solution here, since they are able to allow you to see a country or location for yourself, without ever having to leave your arm chair. For those looking into the idea of investing overseas, or even those looking at taking a holiday somewhere new, being able to see live footage from that place means that they can judge for themselves whether the photos in the leaflets are anything close to being representative.
Of course, for those who look out of their window, either in the cold, grey climate of home, or from an office window out across the miles of freedom, being able to click quickly through a live web cam provides an opportunity to enjoy the glorious summer sun and happy climate of either an exotic locations somewhere in the world, or the very same view that they saw when on holiday – or even the view from their own property abroad!
There is a huge selling point as far as web cams is concerned of course, particularly for those who have invested in property abroad, and particularly so if the property has been purchased in a location that is less well known. Trying to advertise your property is hard work if you have decided to let it out, and persuading people that your photos aren’t doctored in any way can be a challenge. If you have either your own web cam, or access to one nearby, you can direct potential customers to this so that they can see exactly what the location, and the weather, is like – anytime they want.
There is a further benefit of having a web cam installed in any property you own. If the camera either overlooks your property, or is based within it so that it shows an internal view of your property, quite apart from being a major selling point for potential residents, you can keep an eye on your property whilst it is empty, and help to increase security. Most web cams allow you to take advantage of motion sensing, taking vide only when motion is detected. Obviously once the property is occupied you’d need to remove the cameras for privacy reasons.
I never cease to be amazed that whilst I can look through my window and admire dull, overcast and dreary skies, I can glance down at my computer screen and watch the tranquil blue waves roll their way across my screen onto endless miles of golden sand in Javea, with a blue sky punctured only by a solitary purple mountain peak. With virtual tours and live video from anywhere in the world, I can’t even begin to image what the future may hold.
