Vacation with Family at the Lake of the Ozarks

Created in 1931 the Lake of the Ozarks has become a regular destination for families all over the Midwest. Running over 100 miles in length and over 1100 miles of shoreline the lake is the largest body of man-made water in the United States build by a private company.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of water sports and recreational activities at the lake including fun for the entire family. The lake itself is an excellent place for boating, skiing, wake boarding, swimming and just about anything you can think of to do on and in the water.

Arnold Palmer and Tom Weiskopf designed courses are part of the 13 courses at the Lake of the Ozarks. Other courses by Bruce Develin and Robert Von Hagge are also here to challenge you. Golf packages are available and you should ask your lodging facility to assist you in getting tee times.

If spelunking is your thing you will find several caves around the Lake of the Ozarks to enjoy. Bridal Cave is probably the most well known and visited but Jacobs Cave and Ozarks Caverns are also popular with visitors.

For those of you around Kansas City or St. Louis visiting the lake area is only a couple hours drive. If you are looking for a weekend getaway its convenient and easy to get to from anywhere in Missouri and surrounding states.A wide variety of lodging is available from motels to 5 bedroom homes sleeping up to 20 people all around the lake. Condo and weekend homeowners often rent out their property when they are not using it to offset some of the cost of ownership.

The Lake of the Ozarks is known for its variety of activities and lodging options. Hot Tubs Suites for a couple or homes for a family reunion and everything in between can be found in the lake area. Being centrally located makes a quick weekend trip an easy getaway to enjoy.

Camping for both RV owners and tent enthusiasts are also found around the lake. Camping can be an economical choice and enjoyed by many. There are also several Bed and Breakfast rentals if you are looking to be pampered a little.

Its easy to find something to eat with a large selection of waterfront and offshore dining options. Whether you are looking for a fine dining experience, sitting on a picnic table, or taking something back to your vacation rental you will find it at the Lake of the Ozarks.

When deciding on your next family vacation consider the Lake of the Ozarks. Its not a long drive so gas prices will not stop you and there are so many things to do and see it will be a vacation long remembered by the entire family.
